Ginga Dude Aimed At 2011 Villiers Stakes – Race Preview

November 22nd, 2011

The Group 2 Villiers Stakes is due to run at Warwick Farm Racecourse on Saturday December 17, 2011.

Despite being almost a month away, the 2011 Villiers Stakes has attracted a large number of eager runners.

The 2011 Villiers Stakes is a prime target for New Zealand galloper Ginga Dude, who will use the race as the grand finale of his campaign.

Ginga Dude has experienced mixed success since arriving in Australia  in September, winning the First Light Racing Handicap at Moonee Valley before finishing third in the Listed Cranbourne Cup early in his preparation.

Since then, Ginga Dude has been unable to finish better than fifth in his last three race starts.

Trainer Graeme Boyd will most likely give Ginga Dude a well-deserved break before his 2011 Villiers Stakes run.

“I’ll look at giving him a freshen-up before the Villiers before sending him for a short break after that,” Boyd said.

“He’ll be a bit closer to the others in the Villiers weights so it looks a better race for him.”

Ginga Dude has won 13 of his 48 career starts and has earned more than $330,000 in prize money.
