Fabrizio has been a strong and consistent performer throughout his entire racing career so far, but has undoubtedly returned to competition in career-best form this time; securing four wins from his six campaign starts.

Seeking the ballot-free exemption into the Doncaster Mile that is allocated to the Villiers Stakes winner, co-trainer Adrian Bott told AAP that the team have been thrilled with what Fabrizio has produced this season and through his entire career, and are confident that he will prove tough to beat in the Villiers Stakes 2016.

“The plan would be to try to win the Villiers and qualify him for the Doncaster,” Bott said.

“He just looks like the type of horse who reminds Gai (Waterhouse) so much of some of those types of horses she has had a lot of success with previously.”

Resuming this time for success in the McGrath Estate Agents BM72 (1200m) on August 31st, Fabrizio placed a credible fourth in the Rosehill Bowling Club BM78 (1400m) before returning to winning form in the #TheRaces BM84 (1600m) on September 17th.

Leading in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) before fading in the final straight to finish tenth, the High Chaparral gelding has since posted dominant wins in each of the Bartier Perry BM93 (1600m) and Listed James Boag’s Premium Stakes (1800m).

Bott revealed that Fabrizio has taken well to a freshen-up since his most-recent win on Melbourne Cup Day and is confident that the horse will relish the Villiers Stakes conditions following six weeks away from competition.

“It was a nice freshen-up for him but he’s kept ticking over and is thriving at present and enjoying his racing,” he said.

A five-year-old gelding, Fabrizio has contested only a light racing career so far, but will carry an impressive record of seven wins and a minor through eleven starts into his tilt at the Villiers Stakes 2016.

The 2016 Villiers Stakes field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday December 14th.
