Fabrizio was a strong and consistent performer for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott through the recent Spring Racing Carnival, but has not been seen at the races since he charged home to win the Listed James Boag’s Symphony Stakes (1800m) by close to four lengths on Melbourne Cup Day.

Having resumed at the conclusion of August for a smart win in the McGrath Estate Agents BM72 (1200m), the son of High Chaparral was luckless when fourth in the Rosehill Bowling Club BM78 (1400m) on September 10th, but responded with a return to winning form in the #TheRaces BM84 (1600m) just one week later.

A strategy whereby jockey Johan Victoire opened a lead of close to twenty lengths failed when Fabrizio tired late to finish tenth in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) on October 1st, but the horse again responded positively by winning the Bartier Perry BM93 (1600m); his only other start prior to the Symphony Stakes.

Hazzabeel is another horse that will carry excellent form into the Group 2 feature at Randwick on Saturday, and subsequently occupies the second line of Villiers Stakes betting at a generous $8 quote.

A former Perth galloper, Hazzabeel clearly required a run when debuting for Ciaron Maher for ninth in the Listed MSS Security Sprint (1200m) at Flemington on Cup Day.

Producing an impressive turn of foot from the bend when saluting in the Listed Kilmore Cup (1600m) on November 20th, the Zabeel gelding was unlucky to finish a head second in the Group 3 Festival Stakes (1500m) a fortnight ago.

The barrier draw will play a key role in success for Hazzabeel, who has found his best form from inside alleys this time in.

Queenslander Cylinder Beach is unlikely to accept into the Villiers Stakes field, but remains sole occupant of the third line of early betting at an $8.50 quote.

Resuming for a strong win in the Group 3 Gunsynd Classic (1630m) on April 30th, the Showcasing gelding progressed to second in the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate (2000m) but was returned to the paddock after failing to fire in his next two starts.

Having returning for a typically-strong win in the Listed Recognition Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on November 26th, trainer Desleigh Forster has revealed that the Listed Brisbane Handicap (1600m) at Doomben is more likely to figure for her stable star this weekend.

The 2016 Villiers Stakes field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
