Villiers Stakes Field

The Villiers Stakes field usually contains some pretty handy milers. Horses will often step up in distance for the Villiers Stakes field, while some will step back from races of around 2000m. Usually though, the Villiers Stakes field is comprised of horses with plenty of experience over 1600m. Entrance to the Villiers Stakes field is not as exclusive as that of some other Group 2 races. However, you can almost always expect to see some decent quality in the Villiers Stakes field.

2017 Villiers Stakes Field

The 2017 Villiers Stakes field is shaping up to be a fairly decent edition of the race. Unlike past years, when so many horses were resting, the Villiers Stakes field is expected to feature a few very talented horses who may not have had a great run of luck with acceptances during the Melbourne spring carnival. Keep an eye on the Villiers Stakes field for some really good value horses changing up their preferred distance.

The 2017 Villiers Stakes field is below.

As soon as all acceptances are in, the 2017 Villiers Stakes field will be published here.

2017 Villiers Stakes Nominations

The Villiers Stakes nominations will be announced on Monday, December 7th. Expect to see quite a few decent milers amongst the Villiers Stakes nominations. Although, it is likely that many of Sydney’s top horses will be in the paddock when the Villiers Stakes nominations are released, so they are unlikely to contest it.
